About Us

As the acting subsidiary of the AFL-CIO in Pima County, the Pima Area Labor Federation represents thousands of union members through its political and organizing programs. Founded in 2003, the Federation works with local and national labor organizations as well as community groups in support of policies and representatives that advocate for worker rights. The PALF works closely with the Arizona AFL-CIO by helping  implement state-wide campaigns and mobilizing local affiliates around common issues, building strength and solidarity across  Arizona's labor movement.

The PALF coordinates all local endorsements and activities. These include:

  • Labor-Neighbor Program to register, educate and mobilize the labor vote
  • Policy advocacy and  member education
  • Candidate briefings and an open, affiliate inclusive edorsement process
  • Community service and event outreach

PALF provides essential support for local unions in organizing volunteers and educating members on issues that may impact their lives.  We also network for labor solidarity, progressive policy, and member education programs with outside organizations and coalitions.

Especially crucial in hard times, the PALF provides  avenues for training and various levels of support for workers that have lost their jobs or are working fewer hours than in the past.  This safety net provides members with a lifeline if they suddenly find themselves in a difficult financial situation.
